Provide complex information base for strategic conservation planning
Provide base and6or derived data for authoritative activities (conservation policy)
Provide information concerning the current environmental status of Hungary for national and international reports, public services
Support the assessment of consequences of conservation management, interventions and other external factors
Tasks of NCIS
Compile and manage geographic data related to protected sites and objects
Uniform data management
Analysis (attribute and spatial data, relationships; aiding planning and management strategies, monitoring or research programmes, etc.)
Display (results, monitoring activities, ranger and public information services)
What are the criteria of a well-operating conservation information system?
Must contain valid, verified data
Must offer versatile query capabilities both spatial and temporal (based on areas, species, associations)
Must provide connection to base-data serving systems (land registry, forestry database)
Ease of use, logical interface, available directly to registered users
Uniform, scalable database easy to update, aggregate and maintain
Must be able to connect different types of data, databases
